| just a little update I fitted the rear drivers window and although dirty in the pic i did clean it up. The boot lid is p***ing me off, it needs a bit more work before i will be happy but the weather is not playing ball, -6 here tonight. Refitted the roof gutting on the drivers side too. starting to look like a golf again. took me ages my fingers were freezing. Also came up with a solution to the carbon door cards, the door opening handle sits inside the panel, not flush with it. looks a bit naff in my opinion. So i modded the carbon and made it so the door pull sits flush with the panel, well chuffed. panel is still a bit dusty here are the pics/evidence Thanks for looking | |

| well i have tried to start it tonight....... BANG massive backfire. One of my mates works for Audi and the mechanic there will come over mine and set it up. Hopefully next week. Dash will be picked up next week too, off to be flocked, and i will order my dash gauges tomorrow. lots will be happening. Booked the MOT for March 10th too but i have been working on the car tonight, figured out how to open my boot lid the other day so i am in the middle of fabricating the bits i need to do that, also made this Its my very own camber gauge, i will explain how it works when its finished for those that want to know or look on clubgti. coz thats where i stole the idea from also picked some bits up for my wheels, filled the coolant tank up, clipped brake pipes, clamped gear rod and got some 2 1/4 inch exhaust pipe to finish my exhaust system. will have a proper update next week when things look alot better thanks to those that keep tabs | |

| cheers people, comments always welcome You know i have shaved my boot, well the commom route for popping it is solenoid off the wiper electrics. i decided i wanted an easier solution so came up with a manual popper. I think its a bit different too I have also received my guages today, so i made a push to finish the panel for them. hope you like them. just need to cut one more hole and take delivery of the oil temp gauge, then i have figure out the wiring loo for these babies. the blue tape is the last remaining hole to cut, protects the carbon a bit. sending my dash off thursday to be flocked then its fit up time cheers all | |

| well what an emotional day i had the bloke from audi come round and he set up the cam timing properly and the same with the ignition timing. brilliant. next he hooked up some sort or engine monitor, he called it a heartrate monitor :? dont ask me, i dont know. started the car, kept the revs to 3-4k to warm it up. and it wouldn't hold an idle. sucks removed the carb and checked everything for air leaks, or something i may have overlooked, all ok, i credit myself for that blocked off the brake servo pipe, refitted the carb and tried to start it again, started but still wouldn't idle. Checked manifold..........was ok Audi man (andy) had to leave but gave me some advice what i should do next, which involved removing the carb again and checking all the jets for blockages, bearing in mind the fuel is over a year old and could be stale, this was also a concern. Andy still thought it was an air leak though. So with Andy gone me and my mate Steve decided to remove the intake manifold preheater, found it had the required seals but the flat fibre seal looked a tad flat. made one out of thick rubber and fitted it. started the car and instantly sounded better connected the brake servo again and still sounded ok wound the idle screw out slowly and maaged to get the car to idle at about 950rpm quite smoothly, just need Andy back to set emissions as he has an exhaust gas anayliser. RESULT here is a vid of the final result also done a vid of the interior gauges while it was running, note the test of the tell tale warning lamps on the dash panel, green = indicators blue = high beam red = handbrake/brake fluid low level Got great oil pressure too thanks peeps | |

Glad youve got the running issues sorted and its nothing more serious than an air leak. | |
