mk2 golf driver dead crankshaft advice pls

hi guys my mk2 golf driver 186594 miles died about a month ago
crankshaft went while coming of motorway into hemel .
Does anyone know how much this should cost to fix have been quoted about 700 but the garage reckon it would be cheaper to just source a lower mileage engine.

its killing me leaving it sorn on the drive not sure if i should just get a mk4 and save up for a new engine.

just get a second hand engine mate......prob £50 for a driver engine!

now is a good excuse to 16v it lol

another enging would be a lot cheeper but and if you do it yourself
