| not 100% sure but hopefully next week if not then the week after, need to test the electrics before i do that, dont need a fire at this stage !!! I am a bit worried about the engine start as its the first time i have ever built one. i just need to fill it up with oil and coolant, tighten a few jubilee's, install the carb and away we go. tonight though i have completed the build of the back axle and most of the plumbing for the rear disc conversion, threw a bunch of new parts at it and here's how she looks. and the rear brake compensator, just need the main lines from the master cylinder to the bias valve an i can bleed the brake system. i also managed to fit the rear strut brace, i done this mainly for the look, but should ad a little ridigity ( is that a word ?) Brace is secured with stainless allen head bolts and nyloc stainless nuts. and my unique little touch, the bailey header tank. I had this TIG welded to the front strut brace. I have also secured the strut brace to the suspension mounts with 5mm stainless allen head bolts and nyloc nuts. cheers for checking this out, another update tomorrow. hopefully carb fitted till then | |

| yee haa look what i got yes peeps that is DOT 4 fluid, brakes are now up and runnning. Also got a couple of goodies through the post, warnng lamps for headlight main beam, indicators, oil and battery. got new battery connections with little + and - signs Replaced all the old fuses with brand new ones ready to test (blow up) Got an aluminium passenger footplate, 2 reasons, 1. it looks cool, 2. it will protect the wiring from any passengers size tens. also found a way to give the speedo a signal using standard VW parts. my speedo will need a digial signal which a mk2 cable wont give, so i used a mk3 one. and it fits cheers all | |

| going to be finished for GTI spring fest.....hopefully Been a long time since an update been really busy on the car but it just doesn't show. The dash is in its final stages before it goes away to be flocked, heres a pic to give you an idea of how its coming along. I have also welded the earth pin to the body and welded the mounting bolts for the battery tray in the back of the car, painted battery box too. I have fitted the OMP exhaust and sculpted the rear valance around it for a cleaner look. all done in metal. its a its final filler stage at the moment so still looks a little rough and odd. I have also made custom wiring plugs so i can remove all the gauges from the car with out having to un-wire each one seperately. also doing silly little finishing bits, like tidying wiring and clipping the brake hoses properly, making up power cable ends and order even more stuff. watch this space in the next 10 days, you will be able the hear the engine growl into life for the first time thank you for looking | |

| ha ha you cant have one
not because im selfish, but there not available anymore.
i got it from a site in sweden a while ago.
well after fixing jays car up ready for the mot i spent a little time on the driver.
I had another go at the rear end and rubbed a load of filler down, she is looking smart.
i moved onto the electrics, fitted the battery to her and touched the positive wire on the terminal................
........no bangs, which was nice.
but i had a few problems, first up i had a light on the rear cluster permantly on !! traced it to the brake pedal not returning far enough to activate the brake switch. so i adjusted the master cylinder shaft out. job done.
Not yet tested the reverse light switch.
things that work are
brake light indicators headlights custom washer bottle front wipers dash illumination feed
basically all lights and most other stuff too
MAJOR ISSUE
tried to turn over the engine
nothing
nothing at all
had power to starter motor got a excellent ground to the battery
but nothing to the solenoid grrrr
at this point it was 03:00 saturday morning. time for bed.
saturday got up about ten and started on the car again. decided to paint the rear, also cut the holes for the dails in the carbon fibre dash insert !
left paint to dry
cheers all | |

| Well people i manged to turn the engine over for the first time in nearly a year, starter motor problem was down to some plonker wiring it up wrong not fired the engine yet as i want to wire the oil pressure gauge in to make sure it gives me good pressure. In other news painted the red strip on the bumper body colour and fitted it. also finished the bodywork on the rear of the car and fitted it all up. the pics also show the different way the colour comes out Then fitted the exhaust up and added my new badge spent a load of time stone chipping and wax oiling the underside too, only the drivers door to do and the body work is done. thanks all | |

| the finish on this paint is easy to get looking good, its hammered effect hammerite so has a unique look.
prep is the key though, just made sure panels are clean and grease free, then i tac raged before paint.
door needs another coat though, it is a bit streaky but its only had its first coat. | |
