| Recently came across a carb conversion kit for my mk1 8v.
Kit comprises of: 2 x 38mm carbs 2 x fuel pressure regulators Machine polished inlet manifold throttle cable and all the gubbins for fitting.
What i need to know is will i gain anything from the expense?? car will be wrapped up in bed until may next year so will have plenty of time to get it hooked up, just wanted to know if you wise people had an opinion on it?
cheers dudes | |

| 38's are to small like vrbrew said, you need 40's or 45's.
fitzy, you can them new for £250 each so you is out a bit my man.
i had a caterham 7 with twin 40's on it,and if you drive like miss marple you will get reasonable mpg,but boot it (which you will once you hear them sucking) it'll empty your wallet quicker than a wife and 6 kids, ie A507 from Shefford to the A1 at junction 10 which is approx 5miles = over quater of a tank of juice......

| spoke to the guy and he says that the carbs are FZS1000 T/Choke carbs. Only FZS1000 i can come up with is the Yamaha FZS1000 motorbike.
He says the float bowl angle is perfect for the 1800 8v. I am not that bothered on super power increases so will be more than happy with the 38's. They look the badgers nadgers in the pictures!
Just wanna be sure this guy isnt some chancer thats lashed together some old crap
i have come across an engine for sale on flea bay that has the carbs fitted. says the engine pulls well!
what do u reckon? motorbike carbs ok for the golf?? | |
