Yessir it is. Not much left though. It was a Y reg, not taxed since '94. Floorpan/sills is all good, bulkhead ( apart from clutch cable area ) is ok......shame someone didn't get it before it got chucked up on the pile. Tonights action in the garage...... took the fuel pump/spongey housing/mount apart, all seems good. Going to run the pump at 6v with some clean fuel through it to clear it out.

| A quick update in pics !!! Replaced all the brake pipes an flexis on this car now... Amazing how working in the rain can make you get things done quickly.. Copper lines... b*llocks to doing this ever again. Got a funny idea in my head about fitting a Megajolt ignition system as well....off to the breakers... THUS - ignition loom, EDIS unit and coilpack from a '93 Fiesta. Not going to need half of that lot - so ....... DONE ! Whats megajolt, distributorless mappable igntion system...see here for details... http://trigger-wheels.com/store/?gclid=CKjrgoiVnqQCFdj92AodijygDw Just waiting for payday ( and sell some other stuff ) so I can get my trigger wheel, crank sensor and MJ unit....can't wait . ) | |

Agreed, I had to take our PassatTDi for a cambelt change last week ( was LOONG overdue and I couldn't do it as I've screwed my knee up ) Was genuinely devastated.....first time I've ever had to use a garage for anything !!

| I'd love to dear fellow.....BUT may have lumped my engine on the way home ( ungrateful thing - its only done about 160+k )
Popped to Croxley earlier for a physio appt.
CANNNNNED it back through the lanes......was greeted by an oil cloud through langleybury....humph.....got it home, no clanks or grinding.....but....
Mission for the morning - gunk the entire engine bay - fill the sump, run it up and see where it all escaped from.......i reckon bottom pulley/oil pump......blah...
have this tune in the meantime www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0BlXy3Roj4]

| Me too..... UPDATE Ahoy !!!!! From the good ship green golf... Here it is at work, no doubt looking forward to its drive home. Decided to do something about the mk1 GTI steelies that have been in the garden for about 4 years - here they are . AND here they are after being blasted and given a quick coat of etch. Then, buoyed with enthusiasm, I turned a lot of £££ into these... Full set of polybushes.. Decided to rebuild a spare set of GTi wishbones I had, as they've got the holes in them for the anti roll bars etc, and they're original '82 VW ones....even has the date on the right hand one! Got those blasted and powder coated flat black. Stuck in the polybushes and a new ball joint this afternoon while at work.....AND... Hope to get them fitted tomorrow, along with the new rear engine mount I've managed to find, and a new thermostat, and an oil change. Busy busy boy then. | |

| I suppose you could say its nice that my lower strut brace from Germany finally arrived, you could also point out to me ( although you'd better not ) that I could have got round to putting it all on, I have also " forgotten " - read " run out of money for " getting all my anti roll bars/ clamps powder coated. I have also neglected to fit any more polybushes.......... "Normal " service to be resumed soon. | |

| Well it passed MOT ages ago ( no advisories... ) In the meantime... Busy morning in the garage.........parked it up with warnings of grave consequences if it misbehaved during the procedure... Thankfully, everything went smoothly....so smoothly in fact I forgot to take many pics.....ahem... Old and new wishbones, powder coated original GTi ones, polys, 80 shore A . lower strut brace on... and all back together.....much sharper now, also ordered an ashley exhaust manifold to treat the old thing, although worried that it might fit past the strut brace,,,,,,,hmmm,,,,,, | |
