| Was driving to work wednesday and the steering started shacking like mad, so i was slowing down................then BOSH the car slides to a hault with me just missing a car and nearly smashing the dub down a bank. got out, a bit shaken up, looked at the drivers wheel, and it was fine, looked at the pasangers wheel and the wheels come off and launched itself into the arch, with 2 wheel bolts missing, one snapped off in the hub and one holding the wheel on but all bent up with the wheel off the hub and into the arch. Now, the last person to work on my car was a certain someone who did a clutch on it. but this was about 1100 miles ago? or another thing thats crossed my mind is if someones undone them but ive got no beef with anyone. I thought it was a CV joint, as i had this knocking noise happening as soon as i left Steves saturday after looking at a engine. i had this knocking before on my 8v and i changed the drive shaft and it cured it, i thought this noise was this again. and i jacked the wheel up the other day to check for play and the wheel was fine. i didnt think to check the wheel bolts as a i knew Ian done them and the blokes one of the best technicians i know! heres some pics Not sure if you can see below only one wheel bolt holding the wheel onto the car BUT BEFORE ANYONE SAYS, I AM IN NO WAY POINTING THE FINGER AT ANYONE!What you lot think. |

| nice camber
one thing that sh!ts me up when driving the G60 spiritedly, i have a obsession with checking my wheelbolts, since my mum's mk3 decided to shear a rear stub axle one side and snap two bolts the other.
hope there is no other damage

| Poosibly Pikey caused... Always have a good set of Locking wheel bolts.. (McGuards) and they'll probably walk past...
Had same thing happen at 60 in mates bug, all thanks to Brazillian rear Drums made from toffee! Not funny!
Am paranoid now, always check bolts after 30 miles if wheels been off for any reason. Also get a Torque wrench and do them up to proper tightness... or get an extending wheel wrench (I have tehy handy) .... don't rely on the VAG spanner...
Hope alls ok though!
(Nips out to check his wheels!)

Glad you are ok though. think u might be right steph but if they were, why was the other side loose too, but the backs were up to correct torque setting? this is whats making me wonder! they were the only wheels off when the clutch was done. wierd? cheers everyone for the concern! Dubzee |

| i agree with pinky , someone has tried to pinch them ,or sometimes possibly the bolt becomes stretched because of over tightening and will work loose over time , glad u ok | |
