Just had these emailed to me by my brother thought I would add them. They are of the polo when it came back from being color sanded and cleared.
the work was done by a good friend who also did the ceramic undercoat on the induction pipe.

Hey guys,
Well its been a while since I have updated this page. So here is the lates on my derby. As some of you now I have been plagued by clearance issues with the carbs and brake master cylinder. You will be able to see in the pick below the actual problem. What I have done is taken a grinder to one of the ram tubes, as I still have not been able to obtain shorter ones. Anyway They are now fitted for good. THe only things left to do is change the accelerator cable as the factory one is too short, add fuel pump and regulater and shell be running fingers crossed. Anyway Ill let the pictures do the talking.
Water pipe spagetty that had to be cleared
Old carb and manifold off
First test fitting, here you can see the mechanical fuel pump wont clear the carbs so has to be removed and replced with an electric unit. Also you can see the card can seet properly due to the master cylinder
Manifold painted and fitted
This was a real pig, as I had to grind away large amounts of the casting in order for the nuts to clearance the intake runners[img]
Ram pipe trimed to clear the mastercylinder
Carbs fitted for the last time
Here you can see still how close the carbs sits to the master cylinder.
I will post more after the pump, regulater and accelerator cable are fitted.

Cheers bro, will do. I just cant wait to get her setup and see what she's running. Some of my German friends reckon with a std cam it should be just on or just under 100BHP. So I will be very happy if thats the case.

I have a few parts on order dude, but she is almost there. Parts on order are, facet racing fuel pump with regulater, throttle cable and braided steel fuel line. Thats all she needs. I am still waiting for the shorter ram tubes, but I have given up waiting. Hence me cutting down one of the current units to fit. If they do come in well all the better, however I am not holding my breath on that one.

Thanks dude, yeah with the exhaust and manifold thats on there it is going to scream. Oh I also forgot Ryan was good enough to make me a cover plate for the old mechanical fuel pump, so I just need to pick that up as well. So all in all its finally almost there.

Cheers guys,
I have a few ideas Matt, but my main target is getting it running correct first. I am thinking about ducting cold air through the bulk head from the bonet vents. That will be a major job though. So maybe another time on that one LOL!
LOL! at sparkie, dude, if you thought it was loud before, you wont believe what its gona sound like! hehhe. I think I am going to buy some ear plugs! LOL!

He has also balanced the bottom end, that over 200kph so lets just call it 210, that equates to 130 mph!!!!!! yeah dude im gona be rocking

Well guys,........................................ITs almost there. I did a temporary wire job to get the fuel pump working just to test fire the car.................................. I am still gigling like a school girl. I am not posting pics until she is finished. All I am saying is its not going to be called the loon anymore. Its new name is Loki.....................hehehehe Its a little animal. All thats left to do is sort out a new accelerater cable, wire the pump in correctly and tune the carbs to get her idleling. Then its time for the reall fun to begin.
