Mk3 GTI wont start!!!

Drove to work today - gti started fine no probs, usual smile on my face

Got to work - went to start up again to take to the garage for MOT and it just woouldnt turn over?!

Any ideas why? Ever had this or is this a common prob

Checked battery and alternator is fine so its not power.

could be

- starter motor if its not turning at all

-battery it takes allot of power to turn the old girl over get it checked

if its dead as a doornail those are the most likely

unless...........

its a immobilizer/alarm problem

Could be immobilizer...im sure I read litrally the same thing and it was that.

yeah agree with both check starterif its doing nothing when turning the key
if your not sure if the starter is getting power - check the voltage on the main live cable to the solenoid, if so then check for voltage switching at the exciter wire (the small one from the solenoid) when turning the key

if 12v is present on both occasions then starter is dead

if not check starter relay (i think it has one) if not it will have an ignition relay

then if all ok - possible immob or ignition fault
