| you need a long 3mm allen key. on the metring head there a small hole to adjust the fueling but its very hard to get right without a gas tester on the zorst. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=99852.0 this may help as well. |

| defo check your air filter, Also is the system priming ? i.e a buzzin from the rear wen you turn the key ? if not it could be fuel pump relay?
wont start on the key but starts wen you bump?
also checkearth leads to G-box
and then check my
K-JET checklist in the tech section

| Could be a simple vacum hose... worth checkin the condition of all hoses around inlet manifold... these can perish quite easily! | |

| I have a gas analyser, it is simply to use and you can borrow it if you are down here. I would also recommend the vacuum pipes, just replace them all as you never know what problems they will solve until you solve them. | |

| Ok, thanks for the ideas. Got a new air filter in so no probs with that. yeah the fuel pump is priming right, have checked hoses and are all fine, as i did notice one was off the other day, but all back on now.
What leads would it be going to g-box?
Sometimes it starts ok, but with throttle, most of the time, full throttle pumping to start.... If does not start bump start and stinks of fuel..... like it's flooded... Also it hunts on idle when started....is this just from cold?
Plus, if the car has been started before. it will start perfectly fine when re-started again within about an hour say..

| there is an earth strap from the back right edge of the battery tray to the gearbox
undo the bolt clean up the surfaces back to metal bolt back up and bit of wd40
you may notice the starter motor turns over a bit quicker this is the sort of thing that gets worse over time
the hunting could be coz of a dirty idle screw remove it and if covered in coke rub it back to brass again with brass brush put it back in
your car sould tick over at between 1000-1100 rpm blip the throttle between ajustment

| on the inlet manifold screwed in from the front its brass
if you look at the throttle mechanism its just down to the left, you ajust/undo with a flathead scredriver the head is about an m8 hex head shape
twill be in the haynes manual
