What have you fitted that might be pushing up under the bonnet to make it harder for the catch to work?

You can normally get to the catch through the front grill with a screw driver Smile

i find shouting alot can be helpful, also throwing things - keys, phone etc. if this fails, you can't go wrong with a good old sulk

lol, im like that at work, if it goes wrong it all gets ripped out, thrown out the door closely followed by tools etc....

i sussed, cali pointed me in the right direction, id fixed the hid ballast with a cable tie and the tie was tight round the bonnet cable!

so big thanks to cali! Smile

I guessed it was one of your recent mods that would be the cause.
It is really bad on the Beetle, there can be no way to get back to where the catch is if it is really stuck.

Hitting things does help, however I have found stopping for a cup of tea causes less damage in the long run.
