| Hi Peeps I have a power-steering issue on my mk3. . . it makes a loud squeaky noise when i try to turn at low speed and jerks a lot . . . i thought its might be the belt? but it looks fine. . . any suggestions? | |

| Either pumo as fitzy said, low fluid or a loose belt.
Always try the free things 1st, then the cheap things then if all else fails look at the expensive things.
The belt may look fine but if you push your finger in the centre of the longest length it shouldnt move more than say 1/4 inch (from memory) if it does. tighten it and see if the issues go away.
Check the fluid and then look at the pump.

| belts pretty solid. . fluid is full . . most prob its the pump. . . it was fine before it sat in the garage for a year. . is there any decent garages in hemel ?? | |

| they aint the cheapest things mate but check the pipes sometimes they get pin holes in them i find a price tomoro for u and let u know | |

| This happened to my 16v... i had the fluid changed and i think the system had to be bled... cant remember now it was a while ago, but i had the work done at.... Fairfield motors in Apsley and cost £55 for parts and labour... | |

| Bleeding PAS is just a case of putting it lock to lock a few times isnt it?

Stu yer with the Power steering resovoir cap off, lock side to side a few times gentley. check level |
