broken the RATT AGAIN RRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am going between anger and tears as i say this

on my way to work (traffic que )felt a "clump" under the car that was followed the sound of missing gears so i stopped, opened bonnet to find a crack in the gearbox and gearbox oil pissing out


NOT NOT NOT HAPPY

got relayed to apsley transmissions after 2 and a half hours were the car will sit untill diagnosed

he rebuilt it 14 months ago and i HOPE it can be sorted
if not

i gonna break the ratt

Oh no...you really not having much luck this month are you Dan.
Hope it gets fixed for you considering it not too long ago that it was done the first time..would be a shame to break it

im should be going to look at a golf maybe to break, so im sure we can sort u a out a box for urs.

The boxes have become a weak point on these cars, it was the gears last time not the shell so hopefully you can re-shell it but it is still bad news. I used up two in my MK2 but neither dropped their oil.
What are the up-rated options? Is yours an 8v or 16v box?
To continue with it or to build phase three.....? Supporting you what ever you chose.

I went down to Apsley transmisions to have a word with ian about mine, to walk round the corner to see your car on axel stands and bonnet open, i just thought dan was going on a sick one and tuning it more or something.

but saw the crack on the outter casing. Ian kind of thinks its thrown a gear and just gone sick on the outter casing!

I know of a synchro that might help you out, but it's 5 door and think it may also need a box-rebuild!

If not I'll keep the old ear to the ground for you.

or a mk3 2.0 8v coz apparently they fit too

and any spare cash

WELL the diagnosis is that 5th gear broke up in the top of the gearbox spliting the casing, the rest of the gearbox is fine he's got the parts in stock

and for a bearable price

so i am gonna fix it, keep it and finish it!!!
