Broken Blu-Ray On PS3

I am looking for anyone with a broken Blu-Ray on their PS3.
As a bit of fun, I decided to buy a broken PS3 to have a go at fixing it. I bought loads of bargain parts and now have a pile of parts and no working PS3.
I did however work out why the one I had did not work but now want to test if the other parts I have are faulty so I can decide what to do next.
This is not meant to be me offering a service to buy/fix them as the boss of the house would kill me, she has set a rule that I can only own one at a time which I think is rather unfair. I would need to know what model it was from the serial number as my parts will only fix a later fat model.

My fingers were hurting from working outside in the snow on the car, I have sort of run out of things to decorate for now too.
