Haha, how do you get to the back struts on these big old estates?
inside the boot. you have to take the carpet out that cover the wheel arch bit, but that is tucked under all the plastic trim so you should remove all of that first but i just ripped mine out coz i couldnt be bothered removing all the plastics

| Well after getting the new engine was time to put it in and see if it worked Aftermath of the head had left the engine bay looking like a war zone Jacked her up Stopped to gawp at this Cracked on, shafts out Gearbox out Disconnected everything undone the mounts and..... ta daaaaa engine out Well dropped out New and old side by side Finally new one all in and plugged up Well the the engine started first time only problem is there is a problem when accelerating its like driving with the handbrake on! Turns out the hall sender is fudged so putting the distributor from the old engine in tonight, was seized in though so have left it to soak in WD40, hopefully that fixes the issue then I can crack on with coilovers. | |

| Haha will do mate!
I was beginning to go off the idea of banded steels but a friend of my parents has given me some food for though. Basically I can get steels banded for silly money.
Meeting him tomorrow at 12 so I'll let you know how it goes. If you don't want Bandeds I'll still keep an eye out bud

| Well in my last update I said I was swapping the distributor over from the old engine to remove the hall sender problem. As the old engine was not in a car and just sitting in my mates garden and soaked in wd40 for the last 4 days It came of fairly easy. Distributor by Mat.Walker, on Flickr Then tried to remove the one from the current engine which had not been removed for a long time and had rusted it self to the block also the lack of space in the bay was a pain in the arse, started by drowning it in wd40 and hitting it from side to side to get the wd40 in. then went to town with a set of slip grips. Oops by Mat.Walker, on Flickr distributor won that. So i got some bigger slip grips and some man up and finally got it out. Put the new dizzy in turned her on went for a drive and car was still driving flat. checked the timing on the flywheel and it was jumping all over the shop Plugged it in to diagnostics nothing came up, cleaned all the earths still nothing worked. Then had a little look at the dizzy again found the problem. Culprit.... by Mat.Walker, on Flickr See it? A very tiny crack on the rotor arm, by the time that was found everywhere was shut so now I have to wait till monday to buy a new one and to be honest it might not fix the problem, car is driving like a pig conks out everytime I use first gear has no power at all sad times | |
