| Oh yes another ride thread from me, heres the story, loved my MK1 best car ive ever had then stupidly went for a consultation for laser eye surgery really wanted it down but couldnt afford it so made the decision to sell the golf Which meant I needed a dirt cheap runabout, was looking at loads of cars a mk2 van which i got let down on a merc 190e but couldnt find one with the right spec, finally I saw dapperdans estate was for sale, it was cheap and dan had done a fair bit of work mechanically so I went a brought it. This is how the barge looked when i picked her up from Dan A decent car for £330 had mot and tax plus dan had done -new clutch (valeo) -new cam belt/tensioner -new brakes all round -new exhaust including cat -new gaskets etc - new gear linkage kit -gearbox oil changed -recently changed front wishbones, ball joints, trackrod ends, antiroll bar bushes Had a fair few dents and scratches but its all good. Gave the barge a good clean today, takes hours to polish and wax an estate!!! Started off looking pretty dirty. Gave it a good wash Had to stop halfway through to sell this though cracked on with the polish and wax After a good 4 hours work she scrubbed up. Couple of reflections Thats all for now, plans are to abuse it. Dan has put coils on the front so im trying to find some rears, im selling the compomotives off the mk1 then going find some 15 or 16, roll arches and remove helper springs. Also emailed a guy breaking a mk3 gti same colour about a few doors and a bonnet and maybe some other jazz. now im off to chill | |

| I banded steels... shame they are all so f**king expensive and there don't seem to many sets out there for 5x100 hubs. Car is looking nice and clean Matt. If you need any mk3 bits that dapper Dan hasn't already shot gunned gimme a shout me and Sprout are in the process of breaking one and it hasn't got long before it goes to the scrappy in Wisbech. Do you fancy a mint 16v gti interior for example? or maybe a new dash or whatever? Speak to me on thursday dude. | |

| well as some of you may have seen at Thursdays meet the land barge was losing water badly and sods law my mate who I brought with me had a phone call and his girlfriend got rushed to hospital so I had to drive back to tring knowing full well I had no water and would f*@! the barge completely. Managed to get to Tring but the barge cut out so I left it for the night got a lift to work on Friday went back Friday night armed and dangerous! To find this.. Which lead to this on Saturday morning And then trying to be a dodgy bastard I brought some of this Obviously It didnt work and then ran out of options really cant be arsed to get a head skim so browsing ebay I decided to buy a new engine. Have yet to figure out how to pick it up also could be shagged but there no fun in doing things the easy way! Oh more importantly I got these today!!!! S'all good | |
