colour coding door handles

Hey guys

Back from Uni in the summer and was thinking of colour coding my door handles on my polo 6n. Just wondering, do I just have to primer over them and paint them or strip the original black paint off before I primer and paint them? Only asking because without stripping the black off, I reckon that the primer and paint won't stick properly and will just flake off over time.

Going to have to key the excisting paint buddy using either a but of scotch brite or sand paper would it not be easier to trawl the local scrapyards for the correct colour ones factory painted? What colour is it and I'll keep a look out... I can't help much more as I don't tend to spray much

hahah cheers for the info man. um i don't think vw colour coded polo 6n door handles if they did i aint come acorss any, however they did colour code 6n2 door handles hmm.. maybe they will fit. Anyway still got a while to wait better start doing some research lol. Oh and don't worry about keeping a look out, its not that important, but thanks for offering tho

Just done a little bit of research on club polo - 6n2 handles are a direct fit and an easy way of color coding without all the hassle.

Apparently people take the rear handles from a 4 door 6n2 and use them on the fronts of the 6n for easy de locked handles ...

always key (sand 600 wet and dry or scotchbrite) asurface befor priming and painting

especially plastic it has to be throughly degreased ,

you will require a plastic primer and sand ing between each layer of paint

600 grit wet and dry is perfect for this , if you want to laquer the paint sand the final layer

of paint with 1200 wet and dry
