| so, with time running out to finish my other project for the statr of this show season ive decided to put it on hold untill the summer. however, i want a presentable car to go to heaven on wheels show in belgum and this show season so ive started to clean up the mk2s bodywork as its in a right state. today i started on the front bumper, smoothing the fog light holes. plastic welded and layer of fiberglass sanded back, then it got dark ive also cut out the 3 slats in the bumper mouth so, the plan of action is *smooth front bumper *replace both front wings as rusted and badly dented on swage line *replace bonnet as big dent and warped and cba to sort it *sort out all the small dents on rear quarters *smooth raer panel where vw badge was *smooth wiper and washer jet holes in tailgate *remove side strips and weld up holes *try and find some second hand doors with audi 80/a4 door handle conversion *respray | |

| na the mouth is staying open, ive just got to smooth out where i cut out the three vertical bits. i wish i haddent cut them out now because theres no strength in the bottom of the bumper now and its a bit worrying as the splitter spends most of its time dragging along the floor | |

| more done today welded up vw badge, 3 holes left by the golf badge and the two seams between the rear quarters and the rear panel. fiberglassed it, sanded and filled. found out that this had been badly repaired in the past. when sanding the fiberglass the paint was chipping off of paint underneith it, so had to take most of it off i plastic welded the towing hook cover up and filled | |

yeah nice its wicked dude
i like the flush tailgate , yes its gotta a bit of stigma attached but you are going for the smmmmooooothed look i think it suits and is very 90's
all you need is some 17'' khan five spokes and you be right on the 90's brit look ....

| I don't think it is going to stay there over some of the local speed bumps . Does it swing or is it on a bracket? Great to see a build thread going on during these colder months. | |
