Help needed fitting downpipe! Empty
PostSubject: Help needed fitting downpipe!   Help needed fitting downpipe! I_icon_minitimeTue Dec 21 2010, 16:23

a couple of months ago i got a 3" downpipe and sports cat for my TT but never got round to fitting it. ive now done abit of research into it and it seems afew mods need doing to the downpipe to get it to fit properly (enlarge 1 bolt hole in flange and grind off a small section as it hits)
thats pretty simple but the tricky part is to get the old downpipe off the subframe needs to be dropped and possibly move about a few other things.
im just wondering if anyone here feels like they could do this and help me fit it or advise me of a place that could do it for me.

I didn't drop the subframe on my Golf...

I figured that if I was going to re-use it I could always sleeve the cut.

Worth it though.

I'm not sure if it's different on yours but I've been told I couldn't fit the new one on without dropping subframe due to clearance, could be wrong though

Point me to any posts or info and I will read it for you to check but ultimately the subframes usually block the old exhaust coming off as they are routed on the car before the subframes are then put on.

I was looking at how to do it properly on the Golf and ended up being pointed at the 'cut it out' solution like so many others. The new exhaust is in parts, with sleeves, so can be fitted under the subframe.

Otherwise, I would take it over to a garage and get them to do it as it will need the alignments done.
