Any reason why a clutch would only slip when the car is warmed up? Its a mates 98 golf 8v??

could be any of the clutch components
or oil on the clutch components from crankshaft oil seal
i would start by checking the clutch cable first check nothing jamin and the cable has a bit of slack,if it hasent it could be not fully engaged
it is most likely to be a gearbox off situation

Looks like dan has it covered but sounds like it wants the clutch replacing, they are not to bad to do either i just done 1 of these at the weekend for cheap i think it was £160 all in. so if your mate wants it doing let me know. Might aswell generate a bit of work lol

one more thing is gearbox oil (no enough or wrong oil) maybe
