| Il be honest, ive been very very immature again, sorry Stuart. i have mad love for VAG and i cant help my actions sometimes when it comes to non vag. i really like the beetle mate, so the mk2 8v has gone. also when you were saying about the burner revving to 8.5 revolutions per minute, it sounds like the mk2 wasnt quiet your thing, i rekon you need a valver, i know it doesnt rev to that amount like the civic, but least it dont sound like a screaming cat sorry dude |

| Its cool. Thanks Dubsy. I just started getting the vibe that I don't like on other forums, its a hobby and if it stops me killing someone at work with an aircon data book from stress overload then it can't be all bad. I absolutely love Mk2's of all styles, its just that the driving experience etc isnt quite for me. I'm into all VAG, some seriously cool cars and people. If I had more cash, not a lottery win, just a bit more disposable cash I would justify buying and running a Mk2 small bumper 16v, a Leon CupraR, my beetles, and my civic. I also love old skool vauxhalls and fords, but I never go on those forums, Dub 1st, always will be, then Honda. I love your car dude, and wouldn't mind a ride one day, I have never been in let alone driven a 16v. Be a new experience. BEETLE UPDATE - Collected my 70's beam from the workshop tonight, ordered new front wheel cylinders and rubber hoses, tomorrow I smother all the beetle bolts in plus gas releasant. Looking forward to Saturday, now known as Slammerday. Cheers, Stu | |

Never ever ever ever be mistaken that OUR forum is like all the others dude. Yeah so Dubsy is passionate about VW's, aren't we all. But we're not elitist, we appreciate all forms of the car but also reserve the right to take the piss out of all of them too I'll be the first to say my cars are nothing special, but they are special to me. I never look for confirmation that what I do is right in anyones eyes, cause I don't care what anyone thinks. I do what I do for me, if someone likes or appreciates what i've done, then that makes me smile. The day we become like "other forums" is the day i'll leave Nomads, but I don't see that happening anytime soon because first and formost we are friends and Nomads second Rant over, sorry..........

| Bazza dude - I didn't mean to rock the boat, but I'm very aware that the civic has absolutely no place on here. I may have over reacted, sure, but I didn't want my dedication to dubs questioned just because of my decision to sell one car over another.
I tried a couple of times to diffuse the situation and get back on topic, this didnt work, hence the can of worms being opened.
Dubsy - your dedication is admirable mate. I'm obviously touchy about the H's being mentioned on here in case it ends in tears.
So if I upset anyone with my comments I apologise.
This thread has completely lost the fun vibe, so I may start another thread on the progress of the bug.
Would it be a good idea to lock or delete this thread, and draw a line under it all?

Stu No i dont think you did over react stuart, we were just having a little banter! Dont be sorry dude! When i said about selling the civic over the mk2 wagen, i wasnt intending on questioning anything, i was only messing, course im going to say sell the civic haha, legend, mate i love em to bits, people diss VW or Nomads, its like dissing a family member (and yer what a childish way to put it ha). i love them so much because mainly from my dads VAG obsession and also my mum, i was even brought back from the hospital when i was born in a Mk1 Golf GTi....do i say more haha, so when it comes to other cars, yer im really shallow, but i still like old mk1 and 2 escorts, old school bmws loads of others. i just cant help it, i wont deny.
now, its up to you on what you want me to do with the thread, i can lock it if you want...? sorry stuart. Dubsy |

| Do whatever you feel is best for the forum. This thread is dead as far as I'm concerned.
If I want to, I can always start a new thread for this bug.

| No, the Mk2 is still with me and being used whenever I can.
Calimori asked if I could hang onto it until he's back from his hols so he can have a good drive of it. I'll give it a good clean and he can check it does everything a mk2 gti should. ;-)

I have a ball park figure and I need it gone, but at the same time ideally need to break even. I got it with no MOT or tax, so thats sorted, 10 months MOT and about 4 months tax. I've added a new thermostat, radiator and expansion cap just to be safe, its had new bottom balljoints as a wheel bearing went and it was easier to fit the spare hubs I bought off Dan. Its had a new temp sender and fan switch, but bizarely the day after stonor the coolant light started flashing all the time. Its not the level switch and it uses no water, so probably a wire or earth problem. It has no speakers or speaker wire, but I have the speaker wire ready to fit so that'll go with the car, I've also fitted some decent 16v lights. I know the lights are a cosmetic thing so I'm not trying to recoup cash for them. It drives well, the engine and box are good and strong, has a 4 branch and a magnex system, suspension kit of unknown make, but handles well and rides nice. No real rot to worry about but a few dings and surface rust from the last 24 years. Arches are fairly solid under the trims, ones dented though. Hence the arch trims going back on. Wheels are silver now but could do with being done properly. It was a rush job. The only history it has are the receipts from my ownership which include, plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, I also did an oil change and chucked some wynns treatment in I swear by that stuff. never had oil temp go over 95degC, admittedly I treat my old cars like they are fragile so I haven't really pushed it at all. I'll probably put it up for £750 but more than open to offers. I'll do a proper ad on here 1st and if no takers I'll do the other forums. Stu
