Subject: Gearbox Off - timing chain in VR6 Thu Jan 22 2009, 10:40
I'm about to undergo the great feet of chainging the chains, tensioners etc on my VR6, whilst i have the gearbox off, im changing its mounts and i also plan on changing the clutch. I was just wondering what clutch set people would recommend sticking in the car?
Should i gofor the normal Sachs or go for a better one? Anyone know of any deals on these or have a second hand one with low miles i could buy?

Depends on your plans and where you drive it dude...
Sachs clutches are really good but make sure you get OEM (OrVW) parts as "som" suppliers *cough GSF/Euro* aren't known for buying in top quality stuff...
If VAG's too expensive (even with your Fitzy-discount) then try Murrays in Hatfield, old skool VAG parts shop with mases of knowledge and they only buy the best stuff...
Check the numerous Chains threads on CF too your chains may not actually need replacing, just the guides...
