help please or rec a garage

my motors sounding like a tank now, can hear blowing etc & now it loses power & stalls when i pull up in traffic/junctions etc.
Anyone good diagnosing or rec a garage not to far away as it lost power twice on motorway on way to work today.

Oh now it works... bloody site keeps logging me out when I hit Send.

Sounds to be like you've got a fairly epic induction/boost leak so airs getting in without the MAF seeing it - too much air, not enough fuel = running very lean = running like a pig.

If it's running as bad as you say why are you still driving it? If I'm right worst case scenario of you driving it running lean is a melted piston or 4. Check your boost hoses.

they will do ANYTHING

the only thing they havnt got is a rolling road

When I had a listen last time, I would say it was running rich, though it sounds like the problem has moved on since then.

managed to borrow another car, will have a look at pipes etc when i'm off tomorrow
got someone gonna come & check it out on fri, will book in to tune tech if he don't know

Running so rich it doesn't drive right is potentially more expensive... bore wash through fuel flooding will write off a bottom end very quickly

I would say the running rich was another symptom of the leak not the reason it was running poorly.

Same thing innit.

Not enough air = too much fuel... and vis versa.

If it is a leak...
Running lean off boost and rich on boost means there's a leak between the turbo at the inlet.
Lean everywhere means a leak between the maf at the turbo.
Rich at idle = different problem.

checked hoses & all seem ok, had friend pop round & found exhaust manifold is blowing badly esp when at idle, he thinks this is the prob
does this sound right

I think that would cause the noise I heard, it would also explain the smell too.
Where is it leaking from, is the manifold damaged or just the exhaust gaskets?
You could try to bodge it with paste to see if that clears the problem and we do a rebuild at a later point.

noise is worse now G, gonna try & get the car up on thur when i'm off to have a proper look
