| Bad news dude, couldn't have come at a worst time eh. Haven't had anything that bad happen for years. Years ago I put Duckhams Hypergrade oil in a car a owned, to top up normal oil, this went about 25 miles. Then it blew the engine in the fast lane on the M25. Had to push it across three lanes of traffic, on a friday night in rush hour. | |

| Well as everyone knows.....I spent alot of money on a R32 engine conversion and had a load of problems! Its on its third clutch now and 2nd gearbox.....
Dont worry and ECU is not too bad at all! Rather change that than my gearbox anyday!
Keep your head up, things will be ok |

| I try not to talk about the MK4 as it has never worked properly from when I bought it due to the previous owner having bodged too many things. It has run in limp mode from pretty much the day I bought it. Every time I fix one hose another goes, I think I might be getting on top of it now but lost a lot of love. Now I MK2, bought or £158.98 from ebay on 06/06/06. It had a list of problems from radiator leak to rear wheel bearings and everything in between. It had an MOT so I fixed the bearings, filled it up with fuel, took spare water and used it for work. The first week I expensed £150 (spent £40 on fuel and £6 on water from petrol stations). It was going to be a throw away car but I kept fixing the problems and started to really like it. Door handle, seat fixture, break hoses, radiator leak were all sorted before I destroyed the gearbox 3 months later but she was in my heart by now. Gearbox, lower mileage bottom end, rebuilt top end and sourced and I paid someone to fit them as I just could not see me getting it done where I live. Collected the car and it failed on exhaust and brakes, sorted at expense and it passed the MOT. Now it had to be kept so BBS RA wheels fitted, eibach springs, dropped subtly, OEM bumpers sources and a hundred other things fixed, refurbished or replaced. Then the car failed it's MOT the following year on ball-joints, not really a problem but the engine started to seize on the way home. So I started looking for a 2l bottom end as this car was handling so well. Then a drunk drove into the back of it whilst it was parked outside my house.... Arse. I couldn't fix that. | |

Aren't we supposed to be cheering him up? I go from hating the goof (when she runs badly, wishbones fall off, I start hearing strange noises etc) to loving it when she runs right... Shooting round a corner with zero body roll, flat as a pancake and you can just feel the inside rear wheel lifting a bit, power down smoothly and blam down the straight, get home with a smile on me face. As a wise man once said, if it's got wheels or tits it'll cost you money. But ultimately life's too short

| That is the Dub scene. We share our ups and down, we help each other and offer a hand. We have more smiles per miles than many consider possible. We also bleed a lot... | |

| i love my golf! no problems really! straight through all the mots ive taken it for.
im just unlucky outside of the vag scene!
I blew 3 gearboxes in my axgt, before finding out a bearing had gone in the engine, this was the problem! fixed thios and the engine blew to kingdom come! I think some garlic eating surrender monkey crafted it out of some modelling clay!

| glad its all sorted mate. ive had my fair worth of problems on the dub, but the way you have to look at it is, that the dub has new parts going on it, in a way making the dub newer again (in theory ) and just build it quicker! |
