I thought I spotted a Seat with a bra on, and some dodgy fucker fascinated with my car
You should hear her at 7K rpm through the tunnel by the station...

This is prior to the supercharger going on, I'm going to dyno it again this week with both pulleys and will report back
The guys at MK2VR6.com reckon 238 from a 12v ODB1 VR6 is pretty good, I definitely think she's had cams, port/polish, remap etc. She certainly revs like a bitch well into the redline (I try not to, but for some reason as the boost hits about 0.7 there's a bit more power available)...

love posts like these! i think thats a really good output for a 2.8 VR OBD1 too, i reko its def had some work done to it prior to the charger
these figures with the charger are going to be very interesting, 290+.......?

When I bought it he quoted 350 with the 26-tooth pulley and about 320 with the 28, which is what's fitted.

It goes down OK, have to keep an eye on the tracking because there can be a wee spot of torque steer (especially in the wet - I shouldn't even be driving it then, true..)
It's such a stiff car though* and with the wider Mk3 track I do love the handling, and you really never get tired of pissing all over Mk5 GTis (silly man), R32s, Focus RS, Skylines etc etc. Can't wait for a proper fight, but I reckon other than silly rice burners it's gotta be something pretty fast.
*I drove the driver's side front wheel up a workshop ramp the other day, the rear wheel was about 4 inches off the ground too

Just a quick test - this was filmed on a mobile, mainly to see what the boost hit but also to try and capture some of the noise..
Seems to barely touch 0.5 - plenty left to do, I reckon.
This was without an air filter, to see if the one fitted is too small. To be honest didn't make any difference, so time to get mapping... And checking for boost leaks
Silicon hoses I think... Any recommendations?

So I'm probably only running about 275bhp...
Found a cracked water pump this morning, get that fixed and then speak to the good people at Red Dot Racing I guess. Other than changing all the hoses out I'm pretty much out of ideas re boost pressure.
Maybe my supercharger's Knackered...

But a setup will only affect fueling, not boost pressure?
I guess the lambda sensor might help, and maybe splash out on a new MAF?

with power like that - without charger , that has had ALOT of work on it, the 12v vr6 engines arnt very tunable so 2 get that another 50 or so bhp naturally aspirated is a MASSIVE achievment in itself!!

Looking at the bills she's been in Portsmouth/Hampshire since the build, I got it from Havant. Work was mainly done by a firm called BVS in Reading, who appear to have owned it before the previous owner. Gotta give them a call, see what they say.
Definitely ported and polished though, and I suspect you're right about the ground-up rebuild - 64bhp over standard is quite a lot for a vr yeah, most of the 12v ones on mk2vr6.com barely touch 200
Can't wait for summer and a set of P-Zeros

Found out as well the charger is $4800 new
Spoke to a guy at Red Dot in Watford who used to build Alpinas with the same charger - where's a cheap M3 when you need one?

Heh, yeah strut braces will be good, sounds like a need a CV joint too (whirrign when power on in a RH turn) - just need to find someone who knows how to change them on a VR6.
Tell, you know anyone?
The old brake cap was getting slapped about by the noise damping felt, new cap had the proper shield in place so yeah it's all good mate, cheers for that.
Will have to take you out next time you're about, not a problem (unless you want to go round any RH bends..)
