| Hi folks... I've been looking for local VW meets since I moved to Aylesbury and just found you lot! I have a perpetual project car - that's currently desperately in need of new wheels and some paint... A Golf Rallye VR6T. Built from an imported rolling shell as a general play thing. My old mk2 vr6 track toy succummed to rust so the good bits were put on the rallye and well... you know how these things progress.... Hope to see you at the next meet! | |

| Welcome to the mad-house!
Really nice project there! Get a Garage thread set up so we can keep track of it!
See you at the next meet!
If you need a local VAG mechanic I can recommend a proper old-skool guy! | |

| Heh cheers lads. I'll get a garage thread up as and when I've got some money to make progress... It's doing it's best to drink every penny I put in it at the moment... It sounds gorgeous and is fairly quick though... The turbo is good for blowing 20psi ~450hp but only running 9psi at the mo on a relatively conservative map. Bit worried about the head... think it's done a few too many track days! Gone for usable, reliable power for track fun so it's a smallish low-tech turbo but it boosts up early (currently makes target 9psi @ 2500rpm) and should hopefully hold a bar up to 6k. I haven't taken it to any meets as yet as it's a bit of a shed... The interior is a mess and there are holes in the floor, the boot lid is a different colour and the bumpers were painted in a hurry in a dark, dusty garage It's a clean shell though so all it needs is some TLC and ofcourse some dosh to by the bits... I don't really care what it looks like when I'm inside it though! It'll never be a stunner... I can't help but think that rallyes should be blasting through the woods or flying round a track rather than being wrapped in cotton wool and cleaned with toothbrushes... Hopefully it won't make too many rallye owners cry! It's right hand drive too so I think I've covered every way I can annoy them See what winter brings! | |
