| hey all, i have had this car since October last year and have been driving it since March due to be turning 19 on the 4th March. it is a mk2 gti 16v royal blue mettalic rainbow interior ok, this is how i bought the car: with my german plates on: 1st of all had a problem with the heater matrix: out it came, got a new one, all back together: alarm, immboliser fitted next: under bonnet padding was next, must have got super hot so changed that over: was from a mk2 td. next i re.sprayed my front bumper as it had a slight scuff: New arch cover as one was split and could have caused a punture with sharp plastic: next up with smoked indicators and yellow fogs, took a while to find the right ones; fitted with laser bulbs: then my headlight lens fell out and smashed when i braked once at home. so new headlight bought and fitted and adjusted: new windscreen next from scrappers, a really mint one, not one mark: mine has two large stone chips. haven't fitted this as yet. wheels clean: next pain was one of my tail pipes fell off! ordered a new one now, in the post! next job was rear bumper as had a hole cut for a tow bar at some point during his life, so picked up this peeling black one: re.sprayed by myself: and fitted on the car: nice n low! lately the rocker cover gasket was leaking oil, so decided to do that: cleaned and back on the car: while i had the cover off, new HT leads were added and an oil change and filter were done. so modifications so far are: yellow smoked fogs, smoked indicators slimline wiper blades, lowered on weitec springs on g.max shocks zimmerman cross drilled disks pagid fast roads pads flexy hoses road/race willwood brake bias valve (next to handbrake in car) laser bulbs straight through exhaust with standard back box larger inlet manifold corrado injectors drilled air box port and polished new strut top mounts front and rear wax oiled re-built from cross member complete rear axle new PAS rack new flywheel LUK sports clutch Audi sport gearbox short shift all new wheel bearings camber adjusted due to lowering new ball pins new track rod ends recon brake calipers new tyres all round and boy it goes! haha not bad for a car with currently 209,400 on the clock! | |

| bit of an update!! Here's the new look: stripped out with strut brace: Sabelt harness in: then i bought a replacement bushing kit off 'the bay' as my gears were wobbling all over the shop. haha dont have a during pic, but here's an after: Pretty tricky to do really. not as easy as it may seem. everything needs to go bak inline, otherwise i would have no gears! Luckily all was cool | |

| The next step!OK I decided that the red strip around my grill wasn't red enough, so i took it off and have re.sprayed it using: MARS RED! This is the red the mk1 golf gti's come in. Here's the grill prepped! took me 3 days to prep it as the line is so thin!! During: After!! Much cleaner, fresher and much brighter red! chuffed!! Car has been rolling about for the past couple of days like this: Notice the drivers side headlight: Smashed! Happened while parked in pembs college. Don't think someone did it as no damage to the bumper. i think it was the heat re.acting with the super glue and the pressure built up and it went!! Not too fussed, as now i have bought these!!!!!!!!! mwahaha! | |

| Bit of an update. here's a pic of the new headlights on: Shocker! sticker on the back window. excuse the dirt! another problem i had was that while going along the road about 20 miles away from my house. was in 4th gear and went to go into 5th but couldn't. so pulled over and realised one of the gear linkage bars has snapped and had fallen off in the road somewhere...couldn't find it. so had to pull off in 3rd gear!! bit of smelly clutch but by 10 mph good old 'derek' could pull on fine. had only 3rd and 4th. so at 60 then i put the car is neutral and free flowed for a while until it came back to a reasonable 4th gear without revving like a mad man. dad drove me to VW and couple of days later! all sorted. | |

| hey. just thought i'd update this a bit! Been a while as up at Aberystwyth uni now so it makes things harder to do on car without ramps, tools etc. What i have got though is a pair of polished door handle inserts: Then i have now decided to go back to the standard headlamps: A, because it looks more original and B, as the beam is rubbish with the cross hairs, so made it hard driving at night, even with adjustments. I have also focused on getting my drivers seat re.done as the foam and material has gone. So picked up a rainbow interior: What's cool is, the drivers seat is mint, no tears or sagging, plus i will use the rear bench material to do my drivers seat which is the car now. The latest ebay purchase was this: A Remus stainless manifold. Being fitted tuesday, then that will make exhaust system complete. Peace out! | |
