Here we go again... VR Mk2 refresh

Hopefully be ready for Ed38, a bit cleaner and making a suspicious whining noise again

Rocker cover gasket needs replacing, so that means inlet manifold off. Good chance to tidy it all up, GUNK it good and get some paint in there. Definitely looking unloved right now.



Also thought the daily needed to be more gangster so blacked it up



Will add more pics as I fiddle with the golf, think this will be about the 17th build thread

If anyone has any contacts that do stainless intake pipe welding, let me know... Probably cheaper than a load of custom corners and connectors in silicon from SFS or wherever.

there is a guy on the nomads facebook page offering custom welding, may be worth a shout?

The daily!....is looking sweet with some murdering out!

Oily bits (only had to visit VW main dealer 3 times to get the right rocker cover gasket)



One raceland exhaust manifold to be wrapped



One master cylinder and reservoir to be replaced (looking very icky, and fouling on where the strut brace should go)



Rocker cover back on, dirrrty engine block to be cleaned/repainted and wiring to be wrapped and hidden better.



The inlet manifold is sitting on my coffee table waiting for me to get bored enough to try and polish it. Aux belt and tensioner removed, read for cleaning and then supercharger refitting. God bless BH weekends.

So far I need:

• The shorter chassis bolt from where the bumper attaches (the outside one that does the crossmember)
• Steering pump
• Reducer pipe to fit catch tank to breather

Anyone got anything useful?

First pass - some effer has painted bits black, but it's OK, it's only the really fiddly bits between each pipe gonna need a dremel

polishing your inlet manifold in the kitchen Ahhhhh.... I remember the days i could bring car parts into the kitchen to work on them

Nice work Ben, shame you couldnt get it all done for edition but best to get it right rather than rush it.

Manifold finished, various other bits done or underway, should be cleaning and painting the engine bay this week.

However, I found some excellent burnt/corroded wiring so I gotta add "inspect whole loom and renew as necessary" to the list. I reckon she'll be done by the summer...
