Mines due the end of the week with HIC (Herts) and was wondering who every-one else is with?

Direct line, £410. I use to get a discount but since the ex moved out that has gone. They were however very good when the MK2 got written of so I might stay with them.

Nice thing is that I don't have to resort to a limited mileage Classic policy! Which is good.

Lowest you used to be able to get a year's insurance from HIC was £181 on a 6000miles/yr classic policy.. Had 3 cars under those at one time!

Are you 17, with 9 points, zero NCB, have already had a claim, declared modifications, have had a car stolen, live in a bad area, have the car parked outside, with the keys in it in and with the engine running??

That is a lot of money to pay to ensure a Clio.

ye ive just urned 18. zero no claims. but i live in a low crime area, parked on my drive, no modifications and no my car hasnt been stolen lol. Basically i got ripped harcore

Hey guys, Im with Direct line, I have only three points at the moment. Loooong story.
Anyway I pay £349 fully comp for the looner sledge/road kill plough. Bearing in mind I also get a good rate as I'm 31. Well suposedly. hehehe

OK, I have rang direct line for a new quote with a few planned modifications declared:

Full performance exhaust
Replacement air system
Lowered suspension
Upgraded suspension
ECU remap to approx 230 BHP.

They wanted £890.... So who is good for modified cars?

Best thing to do is get a quote for a stock factory car from one of the websites then call HIC/Flux-your chosen insurance company and tell them the price,claim the mods, and they will more than likely match it, or get damn close.

Personally I hate getting insurance as all I want to do is just call get the best possible price and buy, not haggle like I'm in some Arabic Market! But hey ho.

H.I.C just quoted me over £1k with no mods declared, I think the accident for the MK2 is causing them a headache.

OK, a further chat with H.I.C gave me a better quote with a completely modified car but the car has to have those mods to get that policy. They were confused too.

£2.5k worth of mods. It will be quicker and cheaper to buy a car with the work already done which defeats the point that 'I' wanted to mod my car.

I could take the car off the road and mod it, then insure it but I would need another car until then. Damn stupid. At the moment it will be better to stay with Direct line and suffer the cost as I mod her.
