mk4 polo box into a mk2 polo ??

Ok, a mate of mine has semi bollocks'd his original box ( only done 140ishK, talk about lack of moneysworth ! haha )

Now, those boxes are getting hard to find ( trust me, i need one for my mk1 golf driver )

Is it possible to adapt the mk4 box to fit ( it will physically bolt up to the engine ) but are the driveshaft hubs the same ? can you swap everything over from box to box ???

any ideas/HELP ! please....as Im probably going to have to do this myself in the mk1... :-)
