| Christmas day is meant to be relaxing and full of joy but I found I had a puncture on the Golf. The car has not been used much recently, there was a water leak that I fixed in a blizzard last week but since the Little Lady has passed her test and a Nissan Micra Automatic purchased, I don't much chance to drive. I was really looking forward to a blast over to my brothers in Oxford. I started to drive, over some ice build up and felt something was wrong. Carried on a small bit and then stopped somewhere safe to park. I was able to rush back to get the pump to get some air in it to return it to it's parking space but I could feel the jet of air coming out of the sidewall. I am led to believe that sidewall repairs are illegal as you can't guarantee the strength afterwards so today I will be shopping for a new tyre. Shame as it was a Falken which wasn't very cheap. There goes my Christmas money. Now I need to find a place open or else I am going to have to keep driving the Micra which is great in this weather but lacks the punch I am looking for. | |

| Humm, on inspection I can conclude I have two punctures on the same side. Also when they fitted my new wheels they used adapter rings on the hubs to make them fit so my spare set will not fit unless I take them off. Plus my usual places are closed today. Bugger. | |

| OK, I found a locally suppliers of Falken 452's that was open today. Both tyres had punctures on the sidewall that he felt were done by someone stabbing them. As they won't repair sidewalls on site I had to have two new tyres fitted at a total cost of £190. But at least I am rolling again. Snow tyres sound like a great idea, I was going to get a set fitted to my spare wheels but I will have to wait until I have saved up for them. Did you sort the slow puncture out? I think you were one of the people who suggested a Micra as a great small car. No gears in the autobox, the sound of a rubber band driving the car. It makes me chuckle, however it is not me that is usually driving but the missus. Can you get the windscreen done on the insurance? | |

| It was the front and back on the passenger side. One sidewall puncture could be something in the ice, two is hard to explain. | |
