Noob with a purple Rado - Page 2 Bbs_rx10

These are the new wheels - need a refurb so I've broken them down

I'm going to polish the lips myself and get the centres powder coated black - what do you think??

Does anyone know a powder coater in MK?

Oh Polo GTi RXII's nice!

There is a wheel refurber iun MK, http://www.pristinealloywheels.co.uk/

However we'd recommend BJV here in Hemel (well 2 miles outside!)

Yes, i recon they would look good. I have these wheels in 16's, how did you split them? Was it a bbs own star shaped bit?

No I bought an M8 spline tool on eBay and used my ratchet set to split them. Took it nice and steady to make sure I didn't damage the bolt heads. It's quite easy and the centres come off without any fuss once the bolts are out.

There's 16 bolts in each wheel so it takes a while to get through them.

I've been using sanding pads on a drill kti to strip the the lacquer on the lips but it's tricky and the pads keep breaking. I'm gonna try using a flap wheel on the drill to see if that makes life any easier. I've got one wheel stripped so far and it's starting to look good. Patience is a virtue n all that!! Smile

Had a quote from Pristine to powder coat the centres at £40 each + VAT - dunno if that's good or not????

if you go on www.edition38.com/forums you might find someone who is willing to do it cheaper for the same quality. Im probably preaching to the chior but as ive only just started mooching on the ed38 forum i've found it really helpful and ive only been using for a couple of weeks

hope it helps
