| My car is a 2.0 tdi 140bhp and need help with the following:
1.Panelfilter/induction kit: my understanding is if i buy a pannel filter, this replaces the standard filter on the airbox? am i correct? if so will this make any major/minor inprovements to preformance? If i buy an induction kit, i would no longer require the standard airbox? and if this is the case which is better? a factory airbox with an aftermarket pannel filter or buy a new induction kit w/ heatshield?
2.Oil additives: basiclly, are they worth it? I've heard fairly mixed reviews on this one
3.Remapping: I know this is definatly worth it, I plan on going to a company called red dot racing in enfield which a friend has recommended, I've been told i can expect about another 20-30 bhp and roughy 20-30 of tourque. are there any risks? im assuming this would void any warrenty i have on the car?
4.Exaust: already been told that this would be fairy cosmetic as my car is a deisel. can anyone enlighten me anymore?
5. Are there any other preformance mods that are seriously worth doing about once i have finished making my car look pretty? i plan on having this car for a long time and would dearly like to try and take it to about 300bhp
thankyou very much. Dashworth

| Best thing to do dude is try finding TDIsport thru google, there they have a dedicated website for peeps with tdi,s.... you will find on there how the best way to achieve 300 bhp... but in answer to some of the above 1-5 questions a panel filter and a re-map would prob get you 170 bhp with no probs... and at reasonable cost..... and all can be returned to factory settings for any warranty issues.... however to get the 300 your after would prob cost 2k or so.... you would need to replace the turbo and get bigger intercooler set up plus exhaust then re-map etc... | |

| Each engine benefits from different mods but the simple rule is, get in more fuel, get more power. As the car is charged, a remap will allow it to create more boost but that would benefit from better air intake, better exhaust and a bigger turbo. Check out Revo's site for what they believe you will get for a stage one remap, then see what they recommend for a stage two and three. A stage one map is the cheapest BHP/£ you can do this now and simple changes like air filter and exhaust will just add to it. A stage two map would require the filter, exhaust and other bits, this would customise the stage one map to your car. You can go straight to a stage two tune like I am going to go. A Stage three is really a completely custom map based on a turbo upgrade, usually a very expensive option. So far I think the exhaust change, turbo back, has been the best for de-restricting the turbo spool up. But would have had limited effect if I had not sorted the intake pipes first. Hope that helps but the final rule is you can only ever have two of the following three things: Power Reliability Money You can keep the money and reliability you have by not having more power You can get more power and keep your money by sacrificing reliability. Or you can have no money but a powerful and reliable motor. | |

| 1. Run performance panel filter in standard airbox, running a cone filter although sounding great actually reduces power.
2. Add ZX1 Ultralube, will run smoother and protect turbo (only need to add this once as it lasts 100,000 miles (ignore the info in the box). Plus change oil more regularly than they say, this will prolong engine life cause the soot in the oil acts like an acid.
3. Chipexpress are based in St Albans and for £395 you can acheive between 167 and 190bhp (read the info on their site it explains it all).
4. You can run an exhaust with no boxes as they do nothing to reduce the noise, but talk to Miltek exhausts to find out the difference between there resonace and non-resonance systems. PVW had one of their systems on a bora tdi and they said it made a wicked sound.
Other things to possibly change is the intercooler, as the standard one is garbage, apperantly you can run one from a vauxhall vivaro/ renualt traffic but this would need measuring to run behind the front bumper.

| Actually I was going to discuss intercoolers but decided to not over cook the mix. You don't really need to touch it unless you go high boost. Check what the mappers say when you talk to them. | |
