Hi all,

Found this site on ClubGTI and thought as i'm a local boy (Hemel Hempstead) i should register and say hello!

Recently bought a MK2 GTI 16v (owned MK2's for the best part of 6 years).

More doors - pah! (the way I look at it , fewer doors mean less to go wrong. that’s in fact my philosophy for the whole car ;-)

The car is currently undergoing some TLC as I've just done the head gasket, but still need to set the mixtures, 2x CV boots, 1x bull joint, overhaul gear linkage and convert back to 4 lamp grill. So a few bits to keep me busy.

next meet is on mothers day on the 22nd march then its GTI spring festival at santa pod but all the clubstand spces are full up

Woodhall Farm - only had the 16v for a month and most of that time it’s been in bits in my garage. I used to have a bright blue metallic 8v but i sold it to a guy in Bovingdon.

not taking it away from modded ones like yours, but as james said, got boring seeing 20vs and other engines in mk2s, i, personally didnt see one with a standard engine in except the G60s.

There's something very nice about that blue DOHC inlet manifold in a Mk2...

Musto - I don’t think it would have been me, as she’s been garaged since the day I bought her.

It’s currently got a Jetta front end but I’ve just found an Altas grey 4 light grill , so I’ll be returning it to standard ASAP. (Got nothing against Jetta's or Jetta front ends, just not my cup of tea. :-))

I'm going to try and make it down to the Swan on the 22nd. Give the old girl a run out, providing its not still in bits. (I’m replacing CV boots and ball joints on the 21st)
