| firstly you need to order a h7 bulb fitment, i ordered the 6000k colour ones, as theyre nice and in the middle i think! its also worth noting these only replace the dipped beam, not the sidelights or full beam, also the sidelights stay on all the time so its worth replacing them for something of a similar colour, rather than the yellow! (which i have yet to do ) i also had to slightly alter the rubber grommet on the kit as i was struggling with it how it comes. tools required: drill with a 25mm holesaw, and some patience! the kit: make sure power to the lights is off first, now undo the metal clips holding the plastic cover on, remove cover and put somewhere safe! you'll need to drill this later at some point! now you can pull off the plug on the back of the existing bulb and move it out of the way for a minute, undo the metal retaining clip for the bulb and take it out (i kept mine as you never know if youll need one) the connection on the back of the new bulb cannot be undone so what i did was cut out the back of the rubber grommet where the 4 cables pass through it so it was just a big hole instead of 4 small holes, (i know this wont make it as waterproof but ill silicone it up at some point!) now with that cut out you can remove the wires from the grommet, and move on to putting the bulb in place, what i did was feed the two connections from the bulb through the metal retaining clip and its a squeeze to get the clip over the back of the bulb but it does go with some perseverance! once in place you need to connect the power cables to the existing plug, the new ones come with spade connectors so these push straight in! for the record, red is live and brown is neutral. okay so now youve got a mass of cables hanging about you need to hold the black cover (that you removed first) as if it was in place and mark where the back of the new bulb will be, this is where you need to drill your 25mm hole. once drilled put the rubber grommet in place and feed the wires through it, you should end up with something like this: make sure everythings plugged in correctly, and test the light heres the difference: once it works and your happy you can clip the back cover back into place, and decide where to mount the ballast, i have just tucked mine above the light and tie wrapped it to hold it securely: now its just a case of repeat the process for the other light and voila all done! | |
