Tyres ??

Where to start..

I'm sending off my steelies to be banded in a couple of weeks ready for the summer months (Just to test the water y'know)

But i'm stuck with the tyre situation?

In my head im picturing a nice stretch and quite low profile but i dont know the first thing about tyres if im honest lol.

What does everyone else go for?

what size wheels are you banding and to what width

as a guide i would say get your head round the idea of either
low profile 40-35 for a square flat look

or a narrower tread slightly more profile for stretch

eg .15x7 alloy wheel could have a 195x40x15 for a square (and legal looking) look/fit

or 15x7 alloy could have a 165x50x15 for stretch that looks good but at a price including finding someone to fit them and having to run at 50 psi to stop any sidewall felexion , and avoid all potholes to avoid denting rim

it all depends on the wheels the tyres are going on and you buget

Well you got the size spot on lol.

It's just i would like to go for a stretch but may need to be sensible because of using it for more of a daily nowadays.

Potholes? what potholes.. British roads are fantastic

But yea didnt know about running at 50psi constantly lol cheers for the heads up. it's definitely an option i'm willing to try.

i would recommend apsley tyres for tyres and fitment of 'unusual' tyres

i would recommend a mild stretch with a 45 ??


the main thing is to know you have a good airtight weld on that banded steel

as you dont want streched tyre going flat coz you cant tell the difference! . they do submerge them in water to check which is good !
