| Bit bored at work so here's my toy/project/moneypit. I originally had a Mk2 with a tweaked VR6 engine proper tracked up trying to disspell the myth that mk2 vr6s dont handle. This was more of a proof of concept than a decent car and went the drivers seat fell through the floor we took everything to the next level. Handily, a mate had an imported Rallye shell that he'd started but given up on so the plan began as a move everything over to that. Out with the old In with the new We moved everything across making the Rallye a front wheel drive vr6... heh. But you know how things progress... VR6 syncro gear from Germany... Rallye now 4wd drive again and able to take some more power than the weaker G60 syncro running gear. Moment of "ooops, I've spent money" resulted in the concerns about breaking diffs re-appearing | |

| Made up some boost pipes And she was done. But a bit shed tastic... And that's how she stayed for a while. I gradually got more and more confident with it and so far nothing major has broken! It goes fairly well too | |

| Eventually the tax ran out and the MOT expired and insurance expired and since then it has been confined to the garage.... which is a shame. Had quite a few expenive months in a row now (including getting married!) so I thought seeing as it'd be off the road for a while I may aswell try and make it look a bit better... This is how it currently is: I've stripped out the rear part of the car and rubbed it all down and primered it. And started on some of the outer paintwork too. The plan is to primer the whole lot and then do it all in a nice simple motorsport-esque white leaving the cage, dash, seats and belts in black. And probably doing something as yet unknown with the wheels (or getting different ones!) | |

how wide must the wheels have been on it before! They were rolled to accomodate 8" at the front and 9" at the back apparently... The wheels on it are from my old car 6.5" It needs to go out 10mm at the front and about 50mm at the back Probably get vr6 syncro rear arms for it at some point to sort the back out. I've got the driveshafts already...

| love vr turbos! good work!
the vr syncro arms arnt that much wider :-( they are 8'12mm a side - i cant remember which sorry!
so you'll just have to go for wide wheels (more traction :-) )

| So, big gap but lots of progress. Photos don't really show up hours of rubbing down and several coats of paint that well so I thought I wouldn't bother posting any. But, top coat started today. Interiors had a damn good blast which is all it's getting. Roof and one side has had 2 coats and is pretty shiny already straight from the gun. Not long now! | |

| Another full day at it with helpers. Top coat is thoroughly on now. Two generous coats. Hopefully enough for a track car. Needs a gentle rub down but some parts of it look proper good. The rebuild is nearing... My labour was easily distracted... | |

| Bodywork is nearly all painted and finished now. I need to order some more paint to get the rest done. It's now waiting on me buying things. I need windows, seats, a couple of flexi brake lines, some bonnet pins and a few other little bits in order to make any progress... I finished the rear bumper and put that on today along with one of the rear light clusters (not sure where the other one's gone!) | |
